In September of 2019, American Water was awarded a 50-year contract
to privatize the water and wastewater utilities of U.S. Army
Garrison West Point, New York. Our responsibilities include system
capital investment, regulatory and environmental compliance,
planning, asset recapitalization, and long term operations and
maintenance. We will provide the water supply, treatment, storage,
and distribution serving the installation's 4,000 cadets, 580
academic staff, and other visitors. The U.S. Army Garrison West
Point water system includes both the Stony Lonesome and Lusk Water
Treatment Plants and the Lusk Reservoir, nearly 400,000 linear feet
of water pipe, over 200 hydrants, 1,000 valves, and 12 tanks. The
wastewater treatment and collection system and includes
approximately 200,000 linear feet of pipe, 1000 manholes, and 6
lift stations, and wastewater treatment plants at Camp Buckner and
Target Hill.
Primary Role
Independently operate, maintain, repair and inspect water treatment
systems at treatment plant, wells and similar work in the water
distribution system (pump stations, storage tanks, fire hydrants,
etc.). Includes the collection of water samples per state
regulations, recording data and preparing regulatory reports,
adjusting chemical feed rates, and other similar duties. Position
will also be required to assist with the wastewater collection
system on a periodic basis and participate in water and sewer main
and service repairs.

Work Environment
--- Employee may be required to work indoor or outdoor work during
seasonal heat and cold or other adverse weather conditions
--- Must be physically able to complete necessary tasks while
wearing an approved respirator as required, as some required work
may have potential for exposure to harmful contaminants,
environments, noise, etc.
--- Must be able to lift 75 pounds, unassisted
--- Shift work required
--- There will be some weekend, holiday and overtime work as
needed, including on-call assignments
